Bruce Atkinson has over 35 years of experience in accounting, including more than 20 years of experience working as a Controller and CFO for privately-held businesses. Bruce’s passion is assisting company owners in arriving at their definitions of company success and helping them achieve it.
Bruce began his career in public accounting, working for 9 years for international and regional accounting firms. Bruce then taught accounting classes for 4 years at UNC-Greensboro, North Carolina A&T, and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Courses taught included Principles of Accounting, Managerial Accounting, Mergers & Acquisitions, Fund Accounting, and Auditing.
Bruce then held the position of Director of Administration and Finance for a not-for-profit company in Greensboro, NC for 4 years. He was also Controller for a distribution company in Greensboro for more than ten years, as well as CFO for a manufacturing company in Greensboro for more than 10 years.
Bruce has a Bachelors of Science degree in Accounting (with honors) and a Masters Degree in Accounting (with an emphasis in Taxation), both from Virginia Tech. He is a currently licensed CPA, and a Certified Management Accountant. He is a member of both the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants.
Bruce has served as President of the Greensboro Jaycees, a deacon with Christ Community Church in Greensboro, and currently serves as Administration Committee Chair for Summit Rotary Club. He was also recognized as a Financial Executive of the Year in 2015 by the Triad Business Journal.
